Socks, Sandals and a Snapback: No Complaints

26 years and I honestly can't complain. I have health, love and peace which I believe are the key components for living joyfully. There have been a few hiccups, but nothing that has really interfered with the way I live.

Reflection is so important for growth. When was the last time you opened up to yourself? YES...yourself. Everyone has things they want to forget, but one day you just have to open your heart and forgive.

Forgiveness is one of the most valuable lessins that life has taught me. It's impossible to live happily if you are carrying any negative emotions/aura/vibes in your heart; resentment, guilt, regret, any kind of pain.

With practice and time, you'll genuienly be able to open your heart and forgive. Be patient and don't worry.

Food for Thought: Reflect

This weekend take a 30 minute break to reflect on life; yours, your families, your friends, the world, the animals, the EARTH. Remember to spread peace, love and joy everday...smile.

Have a great weekend.

Y.R.U Platforms, Levi's and a some leopard

Buenos dias!!

Since I worked yesterday, I have today off, woo-hoo! Time for me to go visit my soon to be God-son. Yes, this girl right here is going to become like a guardian angel of some sort to a beautiful 8 month old baby boy next month.

I'm pretty excited to be his God-mother because besides I was one of the first to see him come out into this world! It's actually pretty crazy, I saw him when he was still inside trying to come out...and then when he was out, I couldn't believe what I had just witnessed...LIFE.

You can read a little bit more about that experience here.

I'm looking forward to being a source of spiritual guidance to this little dude. Plus, I think I'm going to be like "the cool aunt" hahaha considering his mom and I are like sisters! I am excited to experience what it's like to be a God-mother :) I have a couple great examples of God-mothers in my circle of family and friends, so I can't wait to talk about the experience with them.

Grandpa Guilt

I'm going to be honest, I feel guilty because I don't really have a relationship with my grandpas. I know I am not doing enough to be present in their lives...

Sometimes I feel like we don't really talk or see each other because we don't live in the same Country. I was born and have lived my whole life (so far) in Vancouver and they live in Honduras. I don't know, I mean I have a healthy relationship with my grandma who lives in Illinois. She visited us often here in Vancouver during our childhood and we would visit her when she lived in New Orleans and Texas during our adolescence. She came to my wedding in Guadalajara and we talk on the phone de ves en cuando and Facebook each other...

But I feel like that's a bullshit excuse really because I can pick up a phone and call them, I just don't know what we'd talk about and I don't want it to be awkward, you know? But I guess small talk can work in this situation since we would really just be getting to know one another? Uhm, I don't know..I feel like I need to call them and tell them that I think about them everyday, that I am sorry for rarely communicating or visiting them. But that I want to start... Is a short call better than no call?

No, no...my grandpa's don't have Facebook. I'm pretty sure they don't even have internet.

Ef, I don't even know when their birth dates are...ugh, how embarrassing  I feel like such a horrible person. But, I'm going to change this. Later today I'm going to ask my parents for my abuelos birth dates. I will jot them down in my agenda and make sure I send birthday cards (for the first time). What about writing them each a letter and sending them a photo of us the last time we saw each other (one in 2008, the other in 2010). I'm nervous about calling them, to tell you the truth, but I want to do it.

I want to show and tell them how much I love, appreciate and admire them. I want to hear their stories of love, loss, the civil war and so much more...before it's too late.

I want more memories with them.

What else can I do to build an authentic relationship with my abuelos?

No hay que llorar que la Vida es un Carnaval

The last week n a bit has been an emotional roller coaster. There were times were I thought there was a little bit of hope he would survive and recover, but as the days went by we realized that he wouldn't. The family had come to accept the fact that he was very ill and that his days were numbered. I just want to thank God that my husband and I made it on time to spend the last couple of days of his life right by his side, along with the entire family. I will never forget the experience, you accepted me with open arms when we first met in 2009, and I will always remember our last conversation ;) Thank you for being an exemplary example of what it means to be a GREAT husband, dad, and grandfather.  I know you will be watching over us.

Amongst so much pain and sorrow, we were united as ONE, a family that supports one another. Out of tragedy, beauty and peace can flourish. Families come together to reminisce about the past. Forever wrapped in your love.

Thank Him

I want to take this opportunity to Thank Him for his sacrifice, for loving us unconditionally and for gracing us with his presence. He is whom I confide in day and night. He is the one who guides me.

This season I tried harder to do things that brought me closer to Him. Like lending a hand to someone who needed it. Loving harder, telling those around me how much I love and appreciate them. I try to connect with Him on a daily basis throughout the day, even if it was just to say a quick hello and thank you. I have taken the time to reflect and am aware of what can improve. I am ready to renew my oath in becoming a better me for Him, his love, patience and sacrifice.

It's Real Love

 Just imagine...

Your happiness. Seeing, hearing, touching/feeling, tasting and smelling something new or something forgotten. Helping the sick, clothing the naked, feeding the hungry; making a difference. Everything you can imagine is real, love now

Wisdom, meditation and a peace of mind

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.-Buddha

I usually read a few words of wisdom throughout my day, but sometimes I forget and seem to stumble. On my way home from work yesterday I was thinking of ways I could improve my peace of mind and I realized that I need to dedicate more time and concentration to the words of wisdom.

I'm going to start by reading ONE quote (words of wisdom) a day. And I will dedicate 3 minutes of concentration to this quote. I will do this everyday for three weeks, then I will increase the interval of concentration to 5 minutes.

Learning how to meditate. Will you join me?

Steer Clear

you'll never know what you are capable of, if you let fear fog up your vision. -nina

I am learning how to play the guitar and attempting to find my singing voice! I have the best teacher (my husband), but sometimes I get so frustrated and give up. I woke up today more determined to succeed at my music; my quote happened to flow out of my mouth as I sprung out of bed! I was thinking that fear has a lot to do with frustration, at least for me, I feel as though I am scared of failure. I have so much passion to learn that I do not want to defraud myself from what I know I am capable of doing. It's hard but, I want to stop being scared of the "what ifs", What if I make a fool of myself? What if I'm not as good as I think? What if I fail? PERO, como dicen mis papas, el hubiera no existe!! Lets live in the present, even for the little things like singing and learning a new instrument; you can't get better without practice! And trying isn't failing, it is improving and achieving!

Minnie a Millions

money is just a thing,
and things change.

If you bury your treasure on earth,
someone will steal it.
But if you give it away
then no one can steal it.

Why not share what you have.
May it be as little as a smile,
or as much as love
Sharing is what makes this world
a better place.

spread the wealth,
of love.

BlueBarn Girl

If you focus on what you've left behind,
you will never be able to see what lies ahead!

I personally know how hard it can be to let things go. But after some years of  practice, I've become very good at it! Remember, to take it one day at a time. Soon enough, you wont even remember what you left back there. And you will breathe so much easier,
the air will feel so much softer, and the sun so much warmer.

A special thank you to my newest followers! :) I hope each and everyone of you have a great day! Keep your chin up, something great is on its way.

Rockin Weekend!

To make something special,
you just have to believe it's special.
there is NO SECRET ingredient!

Life is is so straight forward, isn't it? It really is easy to live a happy life.
All you have to do is be yourPOSTIVEself.
Yes, that's one word in my dictionary.
Don't waste your time being negative and upset over shit that doesn't matter, like
missing the bus or stepping on dog poop!
just LAUGH it off.
FOCUS on all of the positive stuff around you!

Have a great weekend full of good food,  and surrounded by the people you love!

Love Fearlessly

LOVE.
Love is something so amazing.
When I stop and feel it in my body,
it takes over.
The love I have for myself;
it gives me the strength to be fearless,
to believe,
to be myself.
TO BE FREE.
