Vancouver Eco Fashion Week: Nicole Bridger

October 16, 2012- Gabriel and I had the pleasure of attending the opening gala for Eco Fashion Week's fifth season at the iconic Vogue Theatre in Downtown Vancouver. We were promised a night of entertainment and inspiration; Nicole Bridger's Fall/ Winter 2012 collection adorned with Mala Imports jewelry.

The evening started off with the President and Founder of Eco Fashion Week, Myriam Laroche giving a brief, yet informative introduction about Eco Fashion Week and the importance and impact sustainable fashion can have. 

Myriam Laroche also introduced the audience to a local Canadian Jazz group, called Jaclyn Guillou Trio; her voice reminded me of one of my favorite musicians, Amy Winehouse. They definitely left the audience wanting more.

Following the music, we were presented to Aaron Smith of GoVoluntouring, Mark Brand of Save-on-Meats and Madeline Shaw of Luna Pads, successful entrepreneurs whom through their businesses promote social responsibility. 

Lights went out, and a short film introducing Nicole Bridger; the brand and her business philosophy. Check out the inspiring video here. Six contemporary dancers, dressed in beautifully draped dresses, skirts and shirts took to the stage. As they danced, the fluidity of the Nicole Bridger garments was very visible. As the dancers would split into two rows, a model wearing Nicole Bridger clothes and Mala Imports jewelry would graciously walk downstage.

As the show came to an end, and Nicole Bridger walked out to take center stage, all eyes were on her, and the audience gave her a well deserved standing ovation. This was by far, the most creative and well executed runway I've seen in Vancouver.
